How to install

Mac (Safari): show the Favorites bar (View › Show Favorites Bar), then drag the Speed Read button above onto it. With iCloud Safari sync on, it also appears on your iPhone and iPad.

iPhone / iPad: tap Copy bookmarklet code. Bookmark any page (Share › Add Bookmark, name it “Speed Read”). Then open Bookmarks, tap Edit, select the new bookmark, and replace its address with the copied code.

Using it: open an article in Safari, open Bookmarks, and tap Speed Read. The reader opens in a new tab with the article loaded.

No sound on iPhone? Check the volume, and use the reader in a Safari tab (speech is unreliable in Home Screen apps). This page asks iOS to play sound even when the silent switch is on; if you still hear nothing, flip the switch off and try again.

In read-aloud mode the voice sets the pace: the WPM control changes its speaking rate. For better voices, download Enhanced or Premium voices in System Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content (Mac) or Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content (iPhone/iPad).

Keyboard

While reading, only the word is shown. Tap anywhere to pause and bring the controls back.

Space: play/pause · ←/→: back/forward 10 words · ↑/↓: speed
